Swamp Glass

Swamp Glass started many years ago -  first steps- repairing old found Mardi Gras gowns in my native southland home - hand beading and re-weaving ancient parties...Then making peace bracelets and long swinging necklaces, while on the road with the swim team.

The beads were seed and bugle and sewn on - eventually to everything - lamp shades, dinner jackets, hat forms - and were a base for many of the costumes worn by performing artists on the Lower East Side during the 1970’s. Especially me. One even ended up in a Paris Boutique window -

Ahhhh - but then a move to reality for a while - and not one but two graduate schools - and life got serious.

And the moves got serious - until Woodstock, New York. Which is in no way reality. That’s when the beads moved from bought to made - a self taught lamp worker - in front of a wood stove at first. Only Italian “soft” or muriano glass. Tiny objects. From food & fruit to  political statements - - aliens trying to adapt to our world - - erotic ear rings & stick pins; goddesses & gris gris- and a Zen Line which uses no leather or metal - only layers of beautiful glass hand tied with linen, cotton, silk. And Peace/Love & Om beads - of course.

Now as the move back to south - N.O.La - gears ups, the site might gear back.  Orders are still being taken - let me know if there’s something special you want. And who knows - with the packing - I’m sure there are some odd and discontinued pieces what will go on sale....

So, have fun - and don’t forget to notice the weather...

food  - peace - laughter - lust -
